Dr. Bin Wang completed his 5-year medical program in Nanjing Medical University in 1991. In 1996, he was awarded Master of Medicine by the University of Sydney. In recognition of his work and published papers during, he was awarded two scholarships by the University of Sydney for doing Ph.D. He successfully completed his study and was warded Ph.D by University of Sydney in 2001.

During his career development, he has published over 90 papers and given several invited and keynote presentations at national and international meetings. He received a NHMRC Career Development Award (2008) and was a leading researcher in the study of emerging infections including pathogen detection, surveillance, drug resistance detection, and development and applying new technologies. He has received three NHMRC grants as CIA on SARS, avian influenza and pandemic influenza A(H1N1). Much of his work has also focused on understanding the host and viral mechanisms of HIV disease progression, especially in the context of non-progressive HIV disease in which he is one of the pioneering researchers and have seminal papers in the area. 

In 2012, he was appointed as a Senior Research Fellow at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research to establish a new research group to investigate the involvement of oncoviruses in gastrointestinal tumour development. In the past two years, he has actively developed new research concepts and implemented them in the laboratory investigation pertaining to HPV and oesophageal cancer.
